I'd like to get to know why all the Yankee hating

I'd like to get to know why all the Yankee hatingI can honestly say I've never hated the Yankees, but I seriously dislike them just because it's a NY thing. In that respect, my dislike level for the Yankees is on par with the Mets, maybe slightly less because the Mets are a divisional rival. In terms of watching a World Series though, I will ALWAYS root against the AL team, because I want the NL to win (so in the case of the Subway Series, I was actually rooting for the Mets). What I hate, is the Yankees fanbase, in general. No one specific, but it's so rare to find a fan that does not have a sense of entitlement. It's rare to find a fan that believes the Yankees deserve to win, because simply, they're the Yankees. And lastly, it's rare to find a Yankees that doesn't believe they're better then everyone else and knows more about baseball, because they are fans of the Yankees. That is what really burns me. Now, as a Philadelphia fan, I get it a lot that "your teams suck, why are you even commenting on sports?" type crap. Really? Because my favorite teams don't win all the time, I somehow know less then sports then you? That's actually backwards knowledge. You need a broad scope of knowledge of why teams win and lose to know about a sport. If your team wins all the time, how do you know what else can win and what will fail because there is more then one way to win, and LOTS of ways to lose. From a general perspective, Philly fans are VERY intelligent with the sports....seriously, why do you think they complain about their teams so much???? Because they know why they're losing and easily identify ways to remedy the problems, which makes them more frustrated because it's rare for a team to act upon a fanbase's wishes.
That's about it in general. For this year though. VERY FEW Yankees fans gave the Phillies any respect. Calling them flukes. 2008 was a joke because it was the Rays. Because they're fun the NL...yadda yadda yadda. Save it. 2008 Phillies won because they were a great team last year, and Rays were in it because they performed great last year. This year, the Yankees are in it again because they are a great team this year. And the Phillies repeated as NL Champs because they are a great champion team, worthy of defending their title. And no matter who wins, you can't say the Yankees had it in the bag if they won, or the Phillies did either. They are evenly matched teams and it all comes down to who gets the timely hitting. We all know the Phillies lineup has that magic to be able to so, and the Yankees do too. These two teams are two of the best come from behind teams in the majors, both are the top two homerun teams in the majors (Yankees 20 HR's better with a 28 HR hitting DH), and two of the best offenses in the majors, with some great pitchers to back them up. If Yankees fans want to be arrogant, fine, be arrogant. If they win, congratulations, you have every right to have pride and faith in your team. If you lose, well, you still had every right to have pride and faith in your team. And the reverse is true for Phillies fans. There's lots of reasons to hate the Yankees. Some people have a problem with the money, which does cause great players to leave their favorite teams, and that's unfortunate. I don't like it because it really shows what is wrong with America in general. Overspending for the sake of spending on things that really, in the end, mean nothing. |

I'd like to get to know why all the Yankee hatingYou do hear about alot of hating but, I've seen the Yankees in many places across the country. One thing I've noticed is the amount of fans everywhere. Yes, there are plenty of "haters", but there are ALOT of lovers too. NYC transplants? Maybe. People come and go. Part of the hatred may be that wherever you go, you find fans of the greatest team ever. |

I'd like to get to know why all the Yankee hatingIts the FA signings. As a brewer fan it doesnt bother me as much that they sign free agents that the brewers cant afford, but what does $*#% me off is that our team can scout great players, have great young team, and then we cant afford to keep our own players. I dont mind not being able to steal other teams players, but its not fair that we cant even afford to keep our own. It ticks me off that we lose a Fielder in two years, and i really dont care much about losing CC because he wasnt home grown to begin with. I dont want other teams studs, but at least teams should be able to afford to keep their own. Yankee fans have owners who need not baseball knowledge or scouting ability, just a checkbook. |

I'd like to get to know why all the Yankee hatingI like them despite the reasons they are hated... as I have said Donny was my favorite player and he never won anything, and then Tino was my natural second favorite position player and Pettite was my favorite Yankee from the farm... lately it has turned into a circus, Torre, and everything else that made this a circus... Yankees gotta get back to being a team... I like this Joe he is hard nosed and they need to let him Manage... if not it will be a circus. |

I'd like to get to know why all the Yankee hatingI agree spartan... system is messed up but it is in the NFL though... look at the rookie contracts. They are out of hand because of the salary cap and the collective bargaining agreement with the players union and all that... the real people screwed... the old timers in the NFL... you don't hear that in baseball... not clearly as much. Which is absurd because the NFL makes more money... its sickening on both sides... either way...

I'd like to get to know why all the Yankee hatingI don't hate the Yankee's I hate the system and owners that don't have any balls to stand up to these agents, that's whats wrong with sports today. If these players would get a clue why have a agent unless your stupid, cause why give a guy over 10% of your money that if u took your time and researhed things you don't need them. And for owners why are you over paying these players settle on a set salary mark and stick with and if the player does'nt like i guess take a hike cause these players don't need that kind've of money to play a game cause most of these players today they don't play the game with love or passion it's a pay check, shit they don't even know how to run out a groundball your getting paid millions run your ass down to first base. All we have now in baseball are bunch over paid baby's.

I'd like to get to know why all the Yankee hatingPrimus that is a great reason to hate the Yankees... Boston fan... of course I understand that... heck yankee fan hate Boston goes hand and hand I mean why you are one of my favorites you don't just come on here just saying "they suck" or what not... or saying "they spend too much" or whatever... I agree they need the playoffs mostly the division title at least or total failure to me at least... but to the media they will need it all... spending that kind of money... I respect Boston, teams, they also have a great fan base... and want to win. Celtics, Patriots, Bruins, even the Sox of late... look at how all the teams carry themselves most teams are hated more when they win then when they don't... Rival fans understandable but when Brewer fans and Giants fans and whoever just hate for whatever reason... just still eludes me...

I'd like to get to know why all the Yankee hatingSchm...I have hated the Yankees for 42 yrs. Since I was 8 my entire family (Aunts, Uncles, cousins inc.) have been die hard Yankee fans. My 1 cousin and I adopted the Red Sox's (we lived in CT at the time). We were just about dis-banned from the family...we obviously took a lot of grief . Our only ray of hope was when Yaz came into the league. So to answer your question from my perspective...the Yankees were good for most of my sports following life, I dealt with the fans for years, my first trip to Yankee stadium the entire place was chanting "The Red Sox suck!" so I always wanted them to fail. The ownership is great, they always want to win, and they field an entertaining team every yr. I hope all the money they spent this year goes for naught and they miss the play-offs again!
